Jivachi Mumbai
Initiative

Every year, Rasikashraya organizes “Jivachi Mumbai,” a social initiative dedicated to underprivileged communities. For many labourers from the Vidarbha region, Mumbai is a city they have only seen in dreams or in movies. While carrying a lifelong desire to visit Mumbai at least once, they spend their entire lives working hard, yet rarely get the opportunity to experience the city in reality.

With the aim of bringing joy to these hardworking individuals, giving them an opportunity to experience memorable moments in life, and ensuring that their concerns reach the government authorities, the “Jeevachi Mumbai” initiative was started.

The diversity of Jivachi Mumbai...

Destitute Elderly Persons

Female Domestic Workers

Widows from families affected by farmer suicides

In the first year, destitute elderly citizens were taken on a Jivachi Mumbai initiative with the aim of bringing joy to their lives and giving them an opportunity to experience some happy and unforgettable moments. During the visit, they had the opportunity to meet Devendra Fadnavis and were also taken on a tour of Mumbai’s prominent places and attractions.

Domestic women workers spend their lives struggling through poverty and hardship while tirelessly working in multiple households every day. From washing utensils and clothes to sweeping and mopping, they work endlessly, often sacrificing their own comfort and happiness for their families. Despite facing financial difficulties and social challenges, they continue their fight for survival with courage and dignity.

To bring joy and memorable moments into the lives of these hardworking women, we initiated “Jeevachi Mumbai – Shramachi Anandwari” (A Joyful Journey for Working Women).

A special tour was organized for widowed women from farmer suicide-affected families. After the suicide of their farmer husbands, these women are often left to face immense emotional, social, and financial hardships alone. In many cases, they experience isolation within both society and family while struggling to rebuild their lives and secure a better future for their children.

Saluting their courage and resilience, the special initiative “Anandichi Safar” (A Journey of Happiness) was organized to bring joyful moments into their lives, provide emotional support, and inspire them to move forward with renewed hope and strength.

Impact of Initiative

The “Jeevachi Mumbai” initiative brought about many positive changes, benefiting elderly people, domestic women workers, and widowed women from farmer suicide-affected families across Maharashtra.

Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar (SGNY)

During a meeting with Devendra Fadnavis, elderly citizens raised the demand to increase the pension amount under the Niradhar Scheme. Taking cognizance of this demand, in the very next financial budget session, the pension amount was increased from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500. This decision has benefited nearly 5 million elderly people across Maharashtra.
